Some customers have noted that the multiple vitamin-mineral formulas have a strong odor. This is particularly noticeable to patients who have been taking the multiples long-term. The change in odor is due to the fact that we have (over the past year) changed from selenium picolinate to selenomethionine. While we believe selenomethionine is a superior form of selenium, it does have a bit of a sulfur smell, which is normal and does not reflect a problem with the product.

We are happy to report that our Moducare suite of products is now available again. For over a decade Moducare, Thorne Research's plant sterol/sterolin product, has been a staple of our immune support formulas, and many practitioners' dispensaries. In recent years we have added the product to our animal health line (ModucareVET) and our athletic performance line (Modulate). As you may know, we recently experienced a shortage of the primary ingredient used to manufacture this product, which is made by a specific extraction process in South Africa. This shortage was due to the fact that we determined the Moducare material shipped to us had been irradiated to control microbial growth. Dietary supplements in the United States cannot legally be irradiated; therefore, we did not accept that shipment and we demanded the manufacturer make more without irradiating it, which they did to our satisfaction. To our knowledge, Thorne Research is the ONLY supplement manufacturer carrying Moducare that has made this change. We regret this disruption of availability. We could have sourced the sterols/sterolins from some other place or some other botanical source; however, we worked with our supplier to guarantee our customers will have the same, high-quality plant concentrate you and your patients have come to expect.
